- Description:
- Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) and its Green Infrastructure (GI) partners have developed a Green Infrastructure Plan for the district that aims to improve its green and blue spaces. This plan outlines a new approach that requires a change to the way we think about, value and utilise these spaces. It highlights that these areas provide a range of benefits including helping mitigate the impact of climate change, improving public parks, play areas, food growing opportunities and the development of greenways as well as protecting biodiversity and providing a range of ecosystem services. High quality greenspace can positively contribute to social cohesion, community relations and a host of peace building activities. The Glendermott Valley Masterplan – GI Shared Space Project is aligned to Derry City and Strabane District Council Green Infrastructure Plan 2019 – 2032. (https://www.derrystrabane.com/GI) and the Play Plan (https://www.derrystrabane.com/playplan) In addition, Council’s Inclusive Strategic Growth Plan 2017- 2032 highlights the need for investment in the district through; • Enhancement of the natural environment through landscape scale conservation projects to protect and enhance natural environmental assets • Promote neighbourhood and village enhancement through the development of local environmental improvement schemes and community play parks and facilities • Develop community led regeneration initiatives to promote environmental stewardship and the responsible use and protection of the environment The proposed works will be required to address existing issues of climate change and social inclusion and will contribute to improving people’s mental and physical wellbeing through provision of accessible, high quality outdoor spaces to the benefit of the environment. Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) is inviting a Landscape Architect to be Lead Consultant of an Integrated Consultant Team (ICT). The ICT will include the following consultants and services as a minimum: • Landscape Architect, • Lead Consultant/Project Manager, • Civil/Structural Engineer, • Mechanical/Electrical Engineer, • Cost Consultant/Quantity Surveyor • any other consultant the Lead Consultant deems necessary to complete the scope of services required for the successful completion of this commission.
