- Description:
- Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified individual or organisation to develop the PEACEPLUS Application and to carry out an audit of Good Relations activities to inform the production of a 3 year Good Relations Strategy. The approach to Good Relations and Peace Building within Council seeks to build on “common needs” i.e. key issues which have the potential to unite people such as health, employment, skills attainment, safe communities and addressing poverty and social exclusion. Within the current cost of living increases and a climate of efficiency, we are seeking to develop a co-designed framework to take forward the planning for both Peace Plus and the Good Relations Audit. It is anticipated this work will also begin to underpin some of the initial thinking in relation to the development of anti-poverty and social inclusion in the longer term. PEACEPLUS is a new cross-border programme that will contribute to a more prosperous and stable society in Northern Ireland and the border region of Ireland. The overall objective of the PEACEPLUS Programme will be to build peace and prosperity and ensure that this Programme will leave a lasting and tangible legacy across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland. The Programme’s strategy is to continue to take the opportunities and address the needs arising from the peace process in order to boost economic growth and stimulate social and economic regeneration and secondly, to promote social inclusion, particularly for those at the margins of economic and social life. The programme will achieve this by funding peace and reconciliation activities, and by funding activities that contribute to North/South cross-border economic and territorial development of the region. The combination of the PEACE and INTERREG type activities in a single programme is reflected in the name of the programme where “PLUS” represents the inclusion of wider economic, social and environmental activities.
