- Description:
- Derry City and Strabane District Council are committed to reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption within their building infrastructure. The council are one of six project partners working on the NPA Smarctic Project. Smarctic (Smart Energy Management in Remote Northern Peripheral and Arctic Regions) aims to increase the use of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions in housing and public infrastructure in remote, sparsely populated areas. This innovative project is unique in that it takes a “whole community” approach to reducing energy usage. The Council have decided to tender for technical research support and intelligent energy management development to facilitate a project pilot which will lead to the production of a council virtual power plant / smart grid which displays relevant energy data in a dashboard format. The support provided shall tailor the research and development pilot in such a manner as to fit the specific requirements of the council, taking into account the complexity of the council building stock, renewable energy currently generated, additional renewable virtual simulations, potential excess power supplied to recipient buildings, facilitation of virtual energy storage and EV charging constraints. The price quoted is to include all staff time over the timescale of the project. This will include the procurement, installation and setting up of energy monitoring equipment, energy and weather data analysis and collection, travel to and from council participant sites for meter installation, the development and implementation of an energy reporting dashboard, all project management and associated project consumable costs which have been fully agreed prior to project commencement with DCSDC. The total project time is expected to allow for all costs over a project timeframe of 9 months.
