| PLASTIC REDUCTION ACTION PLAN IN THE NICS ESTATE |
The delivery of a plan to reduce unnecessary single-use plastics (SUP) from within the government estate. (Defined as central government estate offices except laboratories. Other public bodies and the wider public sector will be asked to establish similar schemes) The plan developed by DoF and DAERA focuses mainly on the categories of catering, packaging, facilities and office supplies, working towards a ban by October 2021. Departments will work with their suppliers to replace existing SUP items/materials/activities with non-SUP alternatives in both existing and new contracts.
